HOW TO FIND AND REPAIR A FULL BREAK IN YOUR CABELA’S GUNDOG IN-GROUND FENCE™ WIRE
A full break is indicated by your wire break icon accompanied by an audible alarm. This type of break will be the complete separation of the wire in one or more locations. A full break needs to be confirmed with a Systems Test. For more information, visit HOW TO DO A SYSTEMS TEST ON YOUR CABELA’S CONTAINMENT SYSTEM
Once you have confirmed a full break, you may locate the damaged wire in one of two ways. You may purchase our Wire Break Locator Kit, or if you wish to locate the break without the use of our wire break locator, follow the steps below:
- Visually inspect your splices and high-traffic areas for wire separation. Examples: Where the wire meets the edges of the driveway, the twisted wire, areas where yard work has recently occurred, areas where the wire is exposed, and areas in which the ground has been disturbed.
- Use the divide method to locate the area in which the break has occurred.
- After locating the break, cut the damaged section out and splice in a new section of boundary wire. The damaged portion MUST be removed from the ground so that it does not interfere with the signal.
Spare wire and splice kits are needed to repair most breaks, you can find those on SportDOG®.com.
