HOW TO PERFORM A SYSTEMS TEST ON A SPORTDOG® IN-GROUND FENCE™ SYSTEM

Always remove the dog’s collar and safely contain him before beginning any troubleshooting.

Cut 15 feet of boundary wire from the roll. Remove ½ inch of insulation from each end of the test wire.

Unplug the power adaptor from the wall. Unhook the fence wire from the wall transmitter. Remove the transmitter from the wall and lay it on the ground. Insert the test wire into the terminals on the bottom of the transmitter. Lay the wire in a large loop to avoid signal cancellation.

Set the range switch to Low. Set the collar to level 2 or higher.

Connect the power adaptor to the transmitter and plug the adaptor into the wall outlet.

Turn the range dial to 5.

Hold the collar contact points against the wire on the test light tool. Keep it low to the ground and walk towards the wire until the light on the tool flashes.

Turn the range dial to 10 and test again with the test light tool. The collar should activate slightly farther from the test wire.

INTERPRET YOUR SYSTEMS TEST RESULTS

  • If your wall transmitter alerted you to an issue by not having a loop light before completing the Short Loop Test, you have a Full Break in your yard wire.
  • If your system appeared to work normally with your yard wire plugged in but the wire had dead zones, or the loop light was on and then would go out after a delay, you have a Partial Break in your yard wire.
  • If your wall transmitter has a loop light with your yard wire plugged in but the collar Is correcting in the safe zone, you are experiencing an Amplified Signal.
  • If your collar corrected in the same location when the dial was set to 5 and 10 on the Systems Test, contact Customer Care.
  • If your collar did not correct at all, and you are experiencing issues with your system, contact Customer Care.
  • If your wall transmitter did not have a loop light on the Systems Test. contact Customer Care.

Due to the short length of the wire on the Systems Test, it is expected that the warning zone may seem non-existent and the difference in where the collar activates will be minimal.

Set your collar correction level back to the dog’s recognition level after the test.
